The United Nations (UN) Secretary General, Mr. Antonio Guterres yesterday 19th January 2024 arrived in Uganda to attend the 19th Non- Aligned Movement (NAM) and G-77+ China summits. Mr. Guterres was received at Entebbe International Airport by Rt. Hon. Rukia Isanga Nakadama, the Third Deputy Prime Minister of Uganda in the presence of H.E Adonia Ayebare, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Uganda to the United Nations.

The Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) has today convened its 42nd Extraordinary Assembly of Heads of State and Government, hosted by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni of Uganda at State House, Entebbe. The meeting was chaired by H.E. Ismail Omar Guelleh, the President of the Republic of Djibouti and the Chairperson of the IGAD Heads of State and Government. The NAM summit, which is being held at Speke Resort Munyonyo, started on 15th January 2024 and it will end on 20th January 2024.

Mr. Kim Son Gyong Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs and Special Envoy of The Democratic Peoples Republic of Korea. They discussed matters of mutual interest between the two countries

The Saudi Arabian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E Eng. Waleed A. Elkhereiji, Cuba’s Vice President, H.E Salvador Valdés Mesa and the Prime Minister of Tanzania, Hon. Kassim Majaliwa are in Uganda to attend the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) and G77+China summits. The NAM summit, which is being held at Speke Resort Munyonyo, started on 15th January 2024 and it will end on 20th January 2024 whereas the G77+ China summit is slated for 21st-22nd January 2024 at the same venue.
